Mr. Sholem joined MSD as a Partner in 2004 to lead the firm’s newly-formed real estate investment group. Prior to
joining MSD, Barry was the Chairman of CSFB Real Estate Capital Partners. In 1995, he co-founded a leading opportunistic
real estate investment fund, DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners (“RECP”), where he had responsibility for directing overall
investment strategy and overseeing the day-to-day activities of its investment professionals. Prior to co-founding RECP,
which later became part of CSFB, Barry led the Real Estate Principal Investment Area and Real Estate Investment Banking
on the West Coast for Goldman, Sachs & Co., and he had national responsibility for real estate related entity-level
investments and acquisitions in the hospitality industry. Barry received a B.A. from Brown University in 1977 and his
M.B.A. from Northwestern University in 1979.
